Insurance is common. Why not insure your basement or crawlspace? You may believe your homeowner's policy will cover the cost of cleanup after a flood. You may be very wrong.

Most insurance companies do not cover water damage from a flood (including one caused by sump pump failure), unless you purchase optional, extra coverage.
